About Oakdin Montessori Kindergarten

Oakdin Montessori Kindergarten opened in 1993. We provide sessional and full day care for children between the ages of 0-5 years old with the added benefits of being open from 7am-7pm. We are located in Billericay in a privately owned converted bungalow, with six bright attractive classrooms arranged to cover each area of the curriculum. We enjoy a large garden and outside area which is designed to meet the needs of children, to enjoy being outside as much as they enjoy being inside.

Lessons are given on one to one basis or in small groups. This helps the teacher to discover more about each individual child and their cognitive development. All children have a positive attitude towards learning and are happy, settled and purposely engaged in an extensive range of well planned activities appropriate to their age and stage of development throughout the sessions. Our aim is to provide a happy, homely and non-competitive atmosphere in which children may grow and learn naturally at their own pace. Optional French and computing are taught twice a week by visiting teachers.

Our free flow of work cycle allows them to grow and learn naturally at their own pace. Everything is child-sized and all the activities are within reach to allow free choice – control flows from self-discipline. We are very proud to say that our educational standard has historically been recognised as ‘outstanding’ from Ofsted.

Admission policy

Children are accepted on a first come first serve basis.  The child’s place is confirmed upon receipt and acknowledgement of the completed enrollment form and the registration fee (non-refundable).

Government Fund

We participate in the Government’s Nursery Education Fund Scheme which enables parents of two, three and four year olds to receive a contribution towards nursery fees.

Childcare Vouchers

We are happy for nursery parents to pay fees through Childcare Voucher schemes although we only accept electronic vouchers. If you’d like to pay nursery fees in this way, please call and we can give you the relevant reference number for your scheme. PLEASE NOTE the regulations state that this method of paying fees can only be used for childcare, up to and including the term in which your child reaches their 5th birthday. They cannot be used for school fees.

Parent’s involvement within the Kindergarten

At Oakdin we try to encourage parents to come in to the Kindergarten and help out with some activities such as creative work, story time and cooking. This allows the parents to have an understanding of what activities their children are doing. It also helps to develop a stronger staff/parent relationship.

Wonderful pre-school. My 11 year-old son attended there when he was three and was given what we believe was the best start he could have had in preparation for infant school.

Our second child now attends, he is three and we know he will receive the same. The teachers are wonderful. Miss Shahida cares about her children and it reflects in the school and its reputation. Highly recommend Oakdin to anyone.
